Healing Waters – Yaruunga

Jedda has recreated one of her Grandmothers paintings. The colours vary but the story remains the same. Jedda’s grandmother was Mary Thomas.

Mary paints about a healing water that is located in Yaruunga (Chinamen Garden) which is South East of Halls Creek. Yarungali is the bush name that was given to Mary named after this spring. Mary explains; “That spring comes wasting out from a hole beneath the ground.

Biography:

Jedda Thomas is from a large family of painters. On her mother, Rosemary Daylight's side are Betty Carrington, Hector Jandany and her aunts Lorraine, Roberta and Nancy Daylight. On her father's side are her grandmother Mary Thomas, her cousin Johnine Echo and great aunt Madigan Thomas. Jedda is currently at boarding at high school and paints on her trips home in the holidays.
