Two Brothers

Corina has painting these artworks to represent ‘Two Brothers’- Muuki Taylor and Wokka Taylor (dec). Corina painted these artworks in Parnngurr, 2022, when the Martu community and close families came together to mourn the loss of elder and artist Wokka Taylor. Originally from Bidyadanga, Corina maintains a close connection to her familial lineage in the Western Desert, and one of this means of connection is through her arts practice.

Name: Corina Jadai

Language: Mangala

Community: Bidyadanga

Biography:

I am learning about painting from Wokka, Muuki and Nola.  I am learning about my grandmothers story, Wokka's sister.  About living in the desert and going to the sea.  Mostly I am learning about Kulyakartu.  My main colours are ocean colours and desert colours.

I grew up in Bidyadanga but I travel up and down, Hedland out to Parnngurr. Back to country trips with KJ rangers.  I hope my paintings teach me new things and help the young ones learn.
