"Port Hedland, I was born. Grew up in Jigalong, finished school in Newman. Lived in Newman. I started to paint from the oldies - my grandmother is [Manyjirr] May Brooks. I was watching her painting, then I learned something from her. I went on that Waru camp with Martumili, KJ [Kanyirninpa Jukurrpa] mob [and] did some photography. It was good learning something from that trip, seeing the rangers, using the camera."
