This painting is about the tali (Sandhills) and the bush flowers that come out after the hot weather rain. There are families staying together and going hunting and collecting seed and bush food.

It is my grandfather’s country.

Biography:

Isabelle Palmer resides at Wangkajungka Community, about one hour from Fitzroy Crossing. Isabelle paints stories about her Mother and Uncle’s country Nyaru out near Kiwirrkurra and Lake Mackay on the Pintubi side. Her mother was esteemed Warlayirti artist the late E. Nyumi. Isabelle spent a lot of time learning from her mother and travelling with her to exhibitions across Australia. Like her sister, Amy Palmer, Isabelle has been sharing stories about women hunting and gathering bush foods as they travel over this country during the different seasons. Following her mother's style with colours to describe the plants, flowers, sand hills and jila (waterholes).
