The purple Mulla Mulla, called Gumbarli in Yindjibarndi. It’s a bright purple flower that grows all over our Country, lining the roads and spreading wide after the seasons change. I love seeing this strong colour across the land when it comes into bloom.

Biography:
Madeline Sandy, is daughter of Yinjaa-Barni artist Wendy Darby. Through her mother she is Martu mob from Western Desert and she is Yindjibarndi through her fathers side. Madeline was born in Hedland and grew up in Roebourne.
Madeline enjoys painting the gum trees because it reminds her of spending time with her old people. She uses branches and leaves from the local trees to create a pattern that she can then dot in her design. She also enjoys painting landscapes.
