Marni

The Pilbara is a land of many beautiful colours. Its beauty blends into the mother earth and against the red, purple hills in the distance. In time and season, the yellow wattles, mulla mulla and sturt pea bloom and the country comes alive with the wildflowers watered by the rain and heavy dew during the night. The land and our country also tells a wonderful story about our ancestors. They walk and lived on the land always gathering food such as fish from the river, hunting kangaroo, emus & tracking goanna’s and also gathering bush fruits and medicine.

After the Rain

After the rain the rivers and creeks in our country come alive with a new growth of plants. The country is filled with beautiful colours. We rejoice looking at our rivers and creeks full of water, so that we can go fishing, kids can go swimming and we can picnic with our families and friends.

JB Fisher – Pelican (Warbalulu)

JB paints stories from his Dhuwa homeland in northeast Arnhem Land. Stories are passed on either paternally or maternally, and JB would have learnt these stories from his ancestors. The cross-hatching style is a traditional painting style of this area and can represent elements such as water, air and wind.

His paintings often feature totemic animals of the fresh waters of north east Arnhem Land.
