This design is inspired by the red sand dunes that are found throughout the central desert. There is a large red sand dune near Ernabella named Wamikata which is a popular place for looking for maku (witchetty grubs) and for teaching Milpatjunanyi (telling stories in the sand) to children.

Biography:
Corinna Nampijinpa Ryan is one of six children to Pamela Nungarrayi Ryan. She was born in Alice Springs and attended the Catholic High School where she completed Year 10. Corinna moved to Yuendumu, a remote Aboriginal community 290 kms north-west of Alice Springs, when she married Quentin Japangardi Granites.
She started painting in 2007 at Warlukulungu Arts in Yuendemu, and since 2010 has been painting in Alice Springs.
