Pandanus Hoop Earrings

Rather than wasting small left overs from a larger woven pandanus piece, artists cleverly craft smaller items such as these handmade pandanus hoop earrings. Each of these earrings are unique, with pandanus hand woven around a metal loop before being finished. Some pairs feature dual colour of naturally dyed pandanus, while other pairs are from a single colour. 

Pandanus fibre art is labour intensive requiring a high level of care and fine needlework. Finished works are both functional and beautiful. Women collect pandanus by pulling from the top of a pandanus tree, stripping then dying the leaves using natural bush colour.
