BllaBong Feed

This painting has a mix of plants and animal species. From left is a long tom fish; these are very skinny and bony and often used as bait for larger fish species. Next is a File Snake, or quiet snake. These are found in billabongs and wet areas and are a prized feed. Next is a Lilyroot – everything on this plant is edible. Finally is a common house gecko. It is the odd one out and isn’t usually eaten!

Painting has been completed using a handmade Jarlk grass reed brush harvested from local billabongs and wet areas. Raark or fine line work is in Yirritja style and consists of three or four lines before alternating colour.
