My Dreaming

This painting represents three of Harry’s dreaming, spider, bat and longneck turtle shown on four separate panels. Painting has been completed using a handmade grass reed brush called Jarlk. Jarlk has been harvested from billabongs and wet areas and shaped so that it can create the fine line work called Raark. Raark on all four panels is in Yirritja style and consists of multiple lines before alternating colour.

Spider Dreaming
Spider dreaming is complete with a round web, hiding among the leaves and flowers of a tree. Flowers are visible as individual dots.

Bat Dreaming
Bats are found in the same area as spider. They feast on the flowers and pollen, depicted as five dots surrounding a central dot. White gum leaves are also shown interspersed among the painting.

Longneck Turtle Dreaming
“When we travel from my country to Garmody, it’s Yirritja area. You’ve got same songline. We always sing that song. This is the song for turtle.”

In this panel you can see two longneck turtle, hiding among the water lilies. Yam root is also visible. Dots in this panel represent mgunbi, or water.
