Mulana Earth – Handmade necklace by Ally Knight

Ally Knight is the proud Yorta Yorta, Dja Dja Wurrung, and Kamilaroi woman of Mulana Earth Designs. A self-taught weaver, Ally began creating after the birth of her son, mentored by Kaiela artist and respected Yorta Yorta elder Suzanne Atkinson.

Her brand, Mulana Earth, brings together traditional practices with experimental forms. Ally uses ethically sourced natural and hand-dyed materials including raffia, cumbungi, emu feathers, and quandong seeds to produce bowls, wall hangings, sculptures and jewellery that reflect her connection to Country, culture, and motherhood. One of her notable designs includes the Bayadherra (long-neck turtle) honouring her connection to her Yorta Yorta totem.

“The act of weaving is not just a craft for me; it is a healing practice that allows me to express my creativity and connect me to my roots. Through my art I find joy and healing, and it deepens my connection to my culture and Country.”
