Name: Irene Golden - Hamlyn

Biography:

Irene is a proud Bangerang woman, from a long line of strong Bangerang women.  She began making jewellery twenty years ago when she says the instinct just came to her. She explains it as inherited knowledge from her ancestors and feels it’s a direct connection to her culture. Irene tries to barter for her seeds as often as possible, trading jewellery for supplies is a direct connection to the traditional system used by Indigenous people. She makes bracelets, earrings, rings and necklaces, often attending markets to sell her pieces.
