Jackson’s Track

This story is about when we lived in these huts in the 1950’s for a few years and the memories and hardships we went through as Indigenous People. With that we also had some lovely memories with family. We survived with teh things around us and used the environment as well.

Biography:

Rochelle Patten is a Yorta-Yorta woman born on the veranda of the local Mooroopna hospital in 1948. Rochelle is a highly respected elder, cultural leader and artist in her community.

Rochelle was always creative through the years and in the early years she watched her father carve and paint. In the 1990’s she had an accident and while she was resting, she painted and fell in love with it again. Over the years she has been in many exhibitions including Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre Titled Two Strong sisters, Boomalli Aboriginal artists cooperative in the “Mum Shirl Tribute exhibition but most resent was the Kaiela Arts titled Yenbenal Woka in March 2023.

At the moment she has been more creative, connecting and caring towards her country, animals and connecting spiritually towards painting.
