Name: Tina King
Language: Awabakal
Biography:
Tina King is a proud Awabakal woman from New South Wales, raised on Wadawurrung Country and now living on the lands of the Yorta Yorta Nation. Her creative practice is deeply influenced by her father’s Country and the surrounding waters where she is now raising her own family, guided by the knowledge and support of Elders, Aunties, and the broader community.
Tina works primarily across weaving and textile arts, incorporating traditional materials and techniques. This includes her signature Marngrook balls made from possum skin, as well as textile-based works such as blankets, bags, and other items adorned with Aboriginal motifs. Her practice is grounded in her connection to place, shaped by the animals, waterways, and natural environment that surround her.
