Karrangkal – Coral Reef by Betty Sykes

I am from the Jalunji clan, Jalunji means people belonging to the seaside. My father used to tell me when were out fishing not to break the Karrangkal (coral reef) or the Jalun.  He said, ” If you break the Karrangkal, the sea will  turn and get very rough and dangerous, to hunt.  He said if that happened we would have to turn the boat around and go back to shore”.  I am very careful not to break the coral.
