Bushfire

Fires can destroy but it can also heal and bring warmth, it is used for cooking. It makes landscapes greener, grass for the animals. Aboriginals would do burning at certain times of year. Cool burning is after winter, hot burning is midsummer and it would be burned in patches, not the whole area.

Biography:

I am a Kuku Yimithirr man and have lived in Wujal Wujal for over 30 years.

My country is Hopevale and Cape Melville. I love spending time hunting and camping at Cape Melville. A lot of my paintings represent Cape Melville.

I am a tour guide. My family are all artists and are self taught by looking, listening and hearing  from my dad, Tulo Gordon who was  also an artist and a translator of the Guugu Yimithirr language into English . He also wrote a book called Milbi.

I came along way to reach this goal and to teach others who have interest.
