A bold piece of cream cotton with a linoprint design layered in red and black ink. This fabric was created using the linocut printing technique. The lino tile has been hand drawn and carved by the artist in Maningrida, and has been printed by hand using a variety of colours and layers. The linocut technique ensures each textile piece is a one-off, limited edition piece. Jacinta is an emerging artist, who has developed a strong portfolio of hand carved lino designs. Jacinta is also a talented screen printer, with an innovative eye for hue and colour layering. Jacinta’s mother is a traditional owner of the land of Maningrida, on which Babbarra Women’s Centre lies. Jacinta has family connections across the top end, and has lived in Minjilang (Crocker Island) and Warruwi (Goulburn Island).
