Mala (Trumpet Shell) on ‘petrol’ coloured silk by Lorraine Hunter 2016

Lengths of handprinted screen printed fabric on 100% dupion silk 137cm wide

The base fabric is petrol blue and is a three-colour print with light blue, light green and light beige coloured details.

Lorraine is a Yawuru woman and spent her childhood travelling between Derby and Broome. She now lives permanently in Broome.

She has practised with Nagula Jarndu for several years, and has studied visual arts and worked in archives at the Berndt Museum, University of Western Australia.

Lorraine enjoys fishing, family time and being productive in her local community. Her influences are native and other Broome plants as well the abundant coastal life on offer in Yawuru saltwater county.
