Name: Troy Firebrace

Biography:

Troy Firebrace, a Yorta-Yorta man, is a young, emerging artist. He is as enthusiastic about art as his paintings are vibrant. Finding ways to incorporate and reflect upon aspects of his Aboriginal heritage, Troy’s strong and colorful artwork expands upon cultural forms and ranges from painting on skateboards, to bold multi-colored canvases, caravans and numerous art commissions. Aiming to engage with new generations of both indigenous and non-indigenous people, he has been an artist member at Kaiela Arts Shepparton for eight years. He has presented his artwork in numerous art exhibitions and in 2015 was an award winner in the Victorian Indigenous Art Award. Having completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts he is enrolled in a Masters in Teaching and often works as a teaching artist.
