Biography:

Victoria Jane Webbe was born in northern New South Wales and her traditional country is Budjari/Margany/Kunja.  Now a long-term resident of Shepparton, she strongly identifies with local Aboriginal culture and landscapes and often uses the Yorta Yorta symbol of the long-necked turtle in her artwork. Victoria has been an exhibiting artist with Kaiela Arts since 2012 and she enjoys working in a range of mediums but, especially painting, which allows her greater freedom. Having come to formal education late in life, Victoria is currently completing a Certificate 3 in Indigenous Culture at GOTAFE. In 2017, Victoria participated in the Design Roots 2 project with other Kaiela Arts artists. Her light-infused illustrations using watercolour, were selected by Spacecraft Studios, Melbourne for printing. Her designs have subsequently, featured in the 2018 Aboriginal Art Fair and Fashion Show in Darwin. Victoria holds a Cert 111 in Visual Arts & Cert 11 in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts.
