Biography:
Makia McLaughlin was born in Tasmania in 1989. Her mother is from Yorta Yorta country and her father is from East Arnhem land, Yolngu people. McLaughlin’s paintings are mostly landscapes and she has participated in numerous art exhibitions. She was selected as a finalist in the 2005 Victorian Indigenous Art Awards for her acrylic on canvas, diptych “My Yolngu/Yorta Yorta Dreaming”. She is currently studying Certificate II Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts at GOTAFE, Shepparton and has recently begun exhibiting her work at Kaiela Arts.
