Hand painted textiles

These textiles have been hand painted by the local indigenous artists from Wujal Wujal. Each cloth is unique. All have been hand crafted in the Bana Yirriji Art Centre.

Each piece of fabric has its own story, which is a statement from the artist that reflects their culture and connection to Country.

The cloth varies in size and can be used for funky tablecloths, wall hangings and other household uses.

Biography:

I was born in Mossman. My mother’s people come from the Kuku Nyungkul clan of the Shipton Flat/Helenvale area.  My father belongs to the Kaanju tribe of Coen.

I have been making art for a few years now and love bright colours as they make me feel happy. I  paint, print, make jewellery and love all textile art.

I have a large family, 4 children, 3 step-children, 21 grand kids and 39 great grand kids.

I love going out with the family to the beach hunting for food and having a fire with damper.
