Wanampi Piuyl Well (Snake Well)

The Snake Well is in the Piuyl Mountains, near Warburton. It is where four Water snake people emerged from a hole in the ground and headed out in four different directions. This story is linked to the tales of the famous water snake woman, Kuniya, who ends up at Uluru.

Biography:

Yayimpi grew up in Amata with her two sisters and two brothers. Her mother, Wanatjura (deceased) became a well-known artist late in her life painting at Tjala Arts in Amata. Yayimpi started painting before her mother in the late 1990's when Tjala Arts was called Minymaku Arts.

Yayimpi worked at the Amata Primary school as a Teachers Aid and since moving to Blackstone, which is her partner's family home, she works for the Blackstone Primary School as a Teacher's Aid. During the school holidays, Yayimpi likes to travel home to Amata to see her family.
