Billabong Fish

This painting depicts multiple fish and animal species found at a billabong. Included are barramundi, diving ducks, catfish and eel-tail catfish, freshwater crocodile,  file snakes, cherabin and water spiders.

Painting has been completed using a handmade grass reed brush called Jarlk which is harvested from local billabongs and wet areas. Raark or fine line work is in a mix of Yirritja and Dhuwa style. Dhuwa style can be seen on any of the four water spiders (two roughly in the centre of the canvas) and consists of a single line before alternating colour. Yirritja style has multiple lines before alternating colour and can easily be seen on all the remaining animals.

Modern acrylic paint has been used.
