Turtles and their nesting are in danger due to the rising temperatures caused by climate change. The movement of the sand cay also puts the eggs at risk, if the nest is too close to the outer part of the sand cay the eggs are at risk being washed away or if the nest is buried in an area without any shade near it the direct heat from the sun produces an all-male hatchlings whereas is the nest was buried in a shady area away from the heat or close to the centre of the sand cay it will have a better chance of surviving and producing both male and female hatchling.
