Pool On The Edge Of The Reef Tere Keper (Erub Mer) Thera Kaper (Kulkalgau Ya)
This artwork is a representation of our many colourful reefs in the Torres Strait. The reefs of our region is so beautiful and is admired by all. Since I was a child; I have always enjoyed walking on the reef with my family. Even now that I have family of my own, I continue to do so with my grand children. The reefs of the Torres Strait has always been a place for cultural practices and a source of inspiration for songs and dance since time immemorial. I have always been fascinated by the creatures and inhabitants of the reef. In my time, I have seen a lot of changes on the reefs. With the effects of global warming and marine pollution, the reefs are dying. We need to start caring more for our sea country. It affects the ecosystems, reefs and the creatures that inhabit them. If we want our future generation to enjoy what we have, then we must make a change today.
