Madeline paints the country as she sees it around her, taking inspiration from the natural environment which she has lives amongst since childhood. She often paints things she sees in Yinjibarndi Country like the Pilbara wildflowers, lilyponds, claypan and spinifex.

Biography:

Madeline Sandy, is daughter of Yinjaa-Barni artist Wendy Darby. Through her mother she is Martu mob from Western Desert and she is Yindjibarndi through her fathers side. Madeline was born in Hedland and grew up in Roebourne.  

Madeline enjoys painting the gum trees because it reminds her of spending time with her old people. She uses branches and leaves from the local trees to create a pattern that she can then dot in her design. She also enjoys painting landscapes.
