Biography:
Marlene Wheeler Nungarrayi joined Tangentyere Artists and took up painting with a passion. Granddaughter of Albert Namatjira, Marlene has many family in Papunya and Hermannsburg communities, including many grandchildren. Marlene paints bush tucker, women's ceremony and other Tjukurrpa narratives such as Seven Sisters, and about her family's Country and Law. Her works are warm and earthy and very finely detailed and her audience are immediately drawn to her work. As sister of the late Marcus Wheeler, and grand daughter of Albert Namatjira, Marlene painted with Ngurratjuta Iltja Ntjarra before painting with Tangentyere Artists. Marlene brings a great enthusiasm to her art practice and that makes her valued member of the Tangentyere Artists art centre.
