Name: Mareeya Pigram

Biography:

Mareeya grew up in Rubibi, Broome on Yawuru country.

Through her younger years growing up, Mareeya went out bush hunting and fishing with her dad and his family. On these trips she learnt a lot about the changing seasons such as Laja season (around October-November) is when the wattle flowers bloom meaning the brindany (stingrays) are fat and good to hunt and that Man-gala season (around December-March), the clouds are fluffy which means the gurlibil (turtles) are laying their eggs.
