Stories are told of the Kaliny-kaliny or Honey Grevillea flower which is a favourite bush food of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara (people). Ultukunpa grows in the sandy soils on the plains. The flowers can be picked and placed in a billycan of water to create ‘honeywater’ (cordial) or they can be sucked for their sweet honey dew.

Biography:
Umatji has been painting at Ernabella Arts since 2017. Her sisters Rhoda Tjitayi and Katrina Tjitayi are also both artists.
Their mother, Angkuna, was the first Pitjantjatjara teacher at the Ernabella Mission in the 1950s. Umatji and her sister Katrina are also teachers. Umatji taught as a primary school teacher at Ernabella Anangu School for 20 years and continues to work in the primary school and family centre. She paints after work and on weekends.
