This is the bush flower medicine called jammi. It’s used for sores and cuts and scratches. You boil the jammi leaves up and then bath yourself in the water. You can also use it for air freshener, it smells like eucalyptus. It can open your airways.

Biography:

Madeline Sandy, is daughter of Yinjaa-Barni artist Wendy Darby. Through her mother she is Martu mob from Western Desert and she is Yindjibarndi through her fathers side. Madeline was born in Hedland and grew up in Roebourne.  

Madeline enjoys painting the gum trees because it reminds her of spending time with her old people. She uses branches and leaves from the local trees to create a pattern that she can then dot in her design. She also enjoys painting landscapes.
