Biography:
TREINAYA PHILLIPS is the granddaughter of recognised Yinjaa-Barni artistAileen Sandy (dec.). She is the eldest child of Brian Phillips (Yindjibarndi) and artist Sheryl Hicks (Ngarluma). Treinaya has spent most of her life travelling and moving back and forth between Perth, Newman and Roebourne, which she now calls home permanently to be closer to family and Country. Treinaya first started painting in 2011 in her high school art class. In 2014 she started painting with her family at Yinjaa-Barni Art Centre, learning new techniques from her Elders to record story. Treinaya enjoys painting patterns, mixing colours and finds art relaxing. She is an emerging artist with the art collective but her reputation continues to grow with her skill for colour placement.Treinaya is known for her paintings which often create optical illusions for the viewer as colours bounce off one other.
