Biography:
I was born in Subiaco (WA) on Noongar Boodjar Country. My people are from the southwest of Western Australia. The Bibulmun people are located just outside of Margaret River. I didn’t grow up on country, as my family have lived in Victoria on Wadawurrung country (Ballarat Vic) for over 20 years. I’ve learned much about my culture from my family through songs, dreamtime stories, dance and art. I’ve learned much from my Mum (Leonie Harris), especially drawing with dots and painting country.
I like to focus more on bright colours, designs and symbols to inspire my kids, as I use this art to share my understanding of symbols, maps and stories with them. Art helps to balance my life, work, study and family, keeping me grounded and connected to culture.
I hope one day, to pass this on to my children, to encourage their understanding and connection to their culture.
