Mini Eel Trap

A woven eel trap is a traditional fishing tool, typically cone-shaped, that has been used by Aboriginal communities and other cultures to catch eels in rivers, creeks, and wetlands. Carefully handcrafted from natural fibres, it is designed to guide eels inside while allowing for a sustainable and respectful harvesting practice.

Biography:

I was born in Ballarat, although I was aware I was Aboriginal, I did not get an understanding of cultural practices, and they were not handed down.

As I got older, and had my own children, I began to discover more about my culture and love to teach my children about their Aboriginal heritage.

I thrive in creating artwork. It gives me a sense of connection and healing to my past, present and culture.
