WARMUN ART

MUNDABUNN (PAPERBARK SPRING), PURNULULU-Eileen Bray;- Mundabunn (Paperbark Spring) is located in Purnululu (the Bungle Bungles). This is where Joomena’s mother was born.

Aunty Lena Aunty Lena is one of Warmuns most famous artists. She often painted Barramundi dreaming which is portrayed in the background of this portrait. Peter painted this painting of her in remembrance and with great respect.

Mistake Creek This is a painting done in tradional ochres in the style of Jane’s father Rover Thomas. The painting is of Mistake Creek which is a well known massacre site not far from Warmun community. 

East Kimberley Boab This painting is of a Boab Tree that are found in the East Kimberly. I have painted it in the style my mother (Charlene Carrington) paints. I have used Ochres and also the sap of the Bloodwood tree to make it glossy.

WURRERANINY – FROG HOLLOW Wurreraniny is the name of the spring at Frog Hollow community where Marika lives with her family. Frog Hollow lies south of Warmun

CARPENTER GAP, FITZROY CROSSING This is Carpenter Gap, in Fitzroy Crossing. That’s the first wagon road there. This is the place where Jandamarra stole food and ammunition and held up the police at gun point.
