Pilbara Hills In our country we have many hills of all different shapes and sizes. When driving through country at different times the colours change and some of the hills look like velvet in the evening and morning light .

Country with Wildflowers This painting represents the pilbara country with river and wildflowers. After the rain the spinifes and grasses go green with new growth.

Honey Ants (minga) Honey ants are shown here collecting food before winter. Bunjima people call the food ‘mulma nujnu’. This name comes from the leaves, and another name is ‘ngardanu’, which comes from the branches.

Sea Turtle Drfting Turtles roam the sea as family every year even when the times to find land to hatch their young on the beach!

Jami Bush Medicine This is the bush flower medicine called jammi. It’s used for sores and cuts and scratches. You boil the jammi leaves up and then bath yourself in the water. You can also use it for air freshener, it smells like eucalyptus. It can open your airways.

Pilbara Creeks During the rainy season many creeks are hidden among the rocky hills of the Pilbara country. The locals from this area like fishing on the banks of the creeks, catching many different varieties of fish.

Sea Turtle When we see sea turtles it can mean that they can be mating and that makes us aware that they will soon be going to lay eggs. Some of our people eat the eggs and turtles.
