In September, when we are looking for gum from the Blue Gum Tree, we walk through the spinifex country. We pick the gum when it is crystal colour, and we eat it, or put it into hot water to make it like a toffee. We call it sugar lolly.
Crossing Pool is in Millstream. It’s a good place to go fishing, swimming and to just relax under a shady River Gum and enjoy being in our country.

In our country we have many hills of all different shapes and sizes. When driving through country at different times the colours change and some of the hills look like velvet in the evening and morning light.

This is the bloodheart tree that has the jayimarra flower. The bark can be burnt and rubbed onto skin like a sunscreen, to keep cool.
We keep this bird around the camp as pets. There is an increase site for the gala which is a large rock on the Fortescue river. In the old days when they would increase the site, they’d hit this site with a stick and the rock would turn red. It can be also cooked in hot ashes or in the ground
