These Earrings were made with the left over printed fabric from the KAMBI Fashion garments designed for CIAF Fashion Performance.
I learnt how make string bags, dilly bags and woven mats during my time with the rangers on Crocodile Islands. I’ve been mostly a weaver but now trying painting and printing.
My fabric print could be leaf or feather, it represents my culture.

Shannon has also worked with Bana Yirriji Art Centre for many years as an arts facilitator, and this year we are delighted to collaborate on our first fashion collection KAMBI.

I’m Kuku-Yalanji woman. My mum is from Wujal Wujal and my dad is from Laura, Chillagoe and Cooktown.
My Bulbuji print represents the dragonfly’s. We can’t touch Bulbuji or wurarr-wurarr. They are sacred. Bulbuji start flying around once the rains come, they are also maja (boss) for bana (water) and the walkarr (water goanna).

My fabric print represents the waterlily that live and grow around my bubu (country). I love going out bush and am especially inspired by the wetlands.
