Kathleen Nanima Rambler – Ilpay Anyerreyl (Creek Flowing)

When it starts to rain the creek beds start to flow. Good for the plants and animals. Then everything starts to turn green. The animals are happy for the water especially after we have had hot weather.

Kathleen Nanima Rambler -Terekerre (White Cockatoo)

When I go bush driving, I see these terekerre (white cockatoos). Mostly around dams, and especially when it is hot. I don’t see these around my community very much.

Collecting Manme (Bush Food)

‘All that jungle around Mumeka, on the other side of the river.. that’s where we go looking for manme (bush food) like manyawok (cheeky yam) and karrbarda (long yam). The yawk yawk (young woman spirit) is holding a kunkaninj (digging stick), kun-madj (dilly bag) and all that manme.’ Jennifer Wurrkidj 2021
