This painting tells a story of “a large spirit dog”. The dog was passing through my fathers country (Woojarr) and decided to stay for couple of days before following the river (Angillary) up to Katherine where along the way creating country as he passed through. The dog eventually made his way to Alice Springs where he stayed for good.

This painting shows an area of the artist’s grandmother’s traditional Country in the east Kimberley region of northern Australia. The hill at the top is Goorrdim. The smaller hills represent ant pit country – good bush medicine. The billabongs indicated where the river splits in two is a place called Woorrilbem.
