My story is about garden kaikai, I grew up with my parents planting cassava bones. This monyotha leaf gives me a glimpse of my childhood.

Shells are beautiful to me, I love when going out fishing or to the little surrounding island for dayout I would collect beautiful shells to bring back home. The colours represent in the shells is about the love, excitement and the beautiful sunny day on a clear blue sky day out with my family.
This print titled “blue & brown thongs” kinda looks weird side by side when I found lost along the sea shore near the beach here at Kubin and it kinda looked like a dirty blue and brown colour which is what I used as part of my colours in this print.

During the monsoon season we would go donw and catch Bidthai (squid) for lunch.
My print depicts plant leaves that have been identified to us by our parents, their parents, and theirs. This knowledge tells us that each leaf plays a role in our livelihood. These plant leaves are part of our lifestyle. We use them in different ways, such as: smoking ceremonies, medicine, mat, bed, food, drink water from, etc. We grew up understanding the teaching given to us by our Uncle and Aunties by identifying the leaves of either plant or tree. We understand leaves are used for, in the various seasons.

On a sunny day during the holidays my cousins and I would walk along Arkai Budhu, luring for squid. They tend to float between the leafs from the mangrove to hide from predators.
The colours demonstrate the yellow sand and dead/fresh leaves that stays on the beach after a high tide.
The Reef I love going to the reef for fishing when the tide is out. There’s always amazing things that are seen like beautiful starfishes, different corals, small fishes in the lagoon and crabs.

There are many different types of frangipanis on the island. My favourite is the sunset-coloured frangipani.
