Mindfulness (XXI)

Modern times has shown that plastic bags are detrimental to the environment and may often be mistaken for jellyfish, which are a food source for marine predators such as the Waru (Green-Sea Turtle). The Waru can be found throughout the waters of Zenadh Kes (Torres Strait Islands) and has been a part of our peoples diet for thousands of years and it is important why we should look after our environment, for the sustainability of our people and our future generations. This artwork also serves as an analogy for us to be mindful of what we consume both physically and mentally but importantly in a spiritual state if we are to live a fruitful and productive life. Art Centre notes: The artwork is a unique state print, or monotype, printed on BFK Rives paper (100% cotton rag with strong archival properties). The print covers the paper from edge to edge. Beautiful Harmony

This painting represents the idea of utopian social cohesion and acceptance that humans have not yet reached. For this art piece I have used paint pens to paint people of different shapes, sizes and colours to represent the different individuals we have in our community. My intention is for viewers of my art to see the beauty in the harmony between people from different backgrounds and how everyone plays a vital part in making something beautiful.

Tree Of Wisdom

This tree represents how you grow and learn with age and experience. In this artwork I have used a tree as a symbol of growth and age. The tree shows growth in size and the rings on the inside of the tree when it is cut down show age. My painting is of an old tree with rings, each different coloured ring representing a different life lesson or thing learnt. I would like my audience to see how mistakes lead to lessons that make you stronger and wiser
